Cord wood loaded in 25 braziers atop piers that span a mile across the Susquehanna River between Columbia and Wrightsville, PA will be torched at twilight. The mile-long covered bridge that once sat on these same piers was torched on June 28, 1863 to prevent the Confederates from marching into Lancaster County and on to Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
